Statement of Faith

What We Believe

Jump to a belief

A declaration of what we believe about the core doctrines of the Bible - the foundation of what The Sanctuary Christian Fellowship teaches, preaches, and does.

The Scriptures

The Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God, without error in its original writings.

2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21

God

We believe in one eternal God, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is God manifested in flesh, fully God and fully man - the promised Messiah, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life, died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the world, was bodily raised from the dead, and ascended to the right hand of the Father.

1 Timothy 3:16; John 1:1,14,36-42; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:34-35; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Ephesians 1:7; Acts 1:9; Hebrews 7:25; 1 John 4:14

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and He regenerates, indwells, sanctifies, and seals every true believer.

John 3:5-6; Acts 1:8; Ephesians 1:13-14; Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:22-23

Salvation

All people are sinners, separated from God, and salvation comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.

John 3:16; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; Acts 20:21

The Church

All true believers are united as one body in Jesus Christ. The Church exists to worship God, teach His Word, equip believers, foster fellowship, and make disciples.

Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:11-13; Matthew 28:18-20

The Great Commission

Every follower of Jesus Christ is called to make Him known - proclaiming the Gospel and making disciples of all nations.

Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:20

Our Message

God loves the world and desires all people to be reconciled to Him. No one is beyond the reach of His grace - all who place their faith in Jesus Christ receive forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life.

John 3:16; Acts 17:30; Romans 10:9-13; 2 Corinthians 5:18-21; 2 Peter 3:9

The Rapture

We believe in the personal and imminent return of Jesus Christ for His Church.

John 14:1-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

The Second Coming

Jesus Christ will return in glory to establish His kingdom.

Matthew 24:30-31; Revelation 19:11-16

Eternity

There will be a bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost - the saved to eternal life with God, the lost to eternal judgment. Heaven and hell are real and eternal.

John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 20:11-15; Revelation 21:1-4

Satan

Satan is a real spiritual being who opposes God and seeks to deceive and destroy, but he will ultimately be judged. Believers overcome him through Christ.

Matthew 4:1-11; James 4:7; 1 John 4:4; Revelation 20:10

Israel

God remains faithful to His covenant purposes for Israel, and His promises will ultimately be fulfilled according to His Word.

Genesis 12:1-3; Romans 11:1-2, 25-29

Humanity, Marriage & Sexuality

God created humanity male and female in His image. Marriage is a sacred covenant - the lifelong union of one man and one woman - and sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage.

Genesis 1:26-28; Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Sanctity of Human Life

Every human life bears God's image and possesses inherent value and dignity from conception to natural death. We are called to protect and value innocent human life, including the unborn.

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 82:3-4; Psalm 127:3; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5

Jesus Christ is our Lord. His Word is our authority. His Spirit is our power. His Gospel is our mission.
